Wilson’s Orchard & Farm has been bringing people together with nature and community since 1985. It has been growing and evolving over the years, allowing them to provide a wide variety of services (Wilson’s Orchard).
For many, Wilson’s is not just a location but a tradition. Sephora Whalen (she/her), 10, admires the natural beauty of the orchard and the joy it brings her.
“Wilson’s has been a very important place to me since I was little. My family and I have always gone to pick apples or strawberries and it’s always been a fun place to go during the fall season,” said Whalen.
Not only do customers enjoy the natural beauty of the orchard, but the employees do as well. Jeremiah Shobe, the assistant market manager at Wilson’s, has been working there for six seasons.
“My favorite part is that it’s beautiful. It’s very peaceful out here,” said Shobe. “I just got a new perspective on the real natural beauty of it.”
Wilson’s has a lot of moving parts and services, allowing for a variety of employees.
“I’ve always had great experiences with coworkers. It’s a really eclectic mix of first-job workers, from people with advanced degrees and have been working in service or culinary capacity for many years. There is just a lot of talent around all the time,” said Shobe.
Additionally, employee and customer suggestions are important to the orchard.
“There is a lot of room for input when it comes to projects around here,” said Shobe. “Seeing your ideas become incorporated creatively is really a standout for me and I’ve really appreciated it.”
Wilson’s started with apples, but over the years, there have been many additions, such as the strawberry patch that was first harvested in 2020 and a recent addition of a playground.
Currently, Wilson’s is offering flower, apple and pumpkin picking. Make sure to check out the current U-Picks and the Haunted Tractor Ride every Friday night this October.
