Liberty Volleyball Sweeps City High
The Liberty volleyball team made quick work of City High on Tuesday night.
The number one ranked Liberty varsity volleyball team traveled to City High on Tuesday night, August 31, four days after the Liberty and City football teams played. The Bolts, only a couple games into the young season, made quick work of the Little Hawks, sweeping them in a quick 3 sets.
The girls found themselves losing 9-8 in the first set, but then went on a run and ended up winning the first set 25-13.
Cassidy Hartman, junior, led the team with 5 kills in the first set and Asta Hildebrand, freshmen, was close behind with 4 kills. To start the second set, the team got hot and stayed hot, winning easily 25-11. Hartman added another 5 kills to bring her total up to 10. In the third set, showing no mercy, the girls completed the sweep and won 25-13 in set 3.
Leading on the stat sheet throughout the game, Hartman finished with a total of 14 kills. Not far behind, Shelby Kimm, junior, finished with 10 kills, and Hildebrand finished with 7. The Bolts as a team averaged a 40 percent kill success rate and a 97 percent serve accuracy.
“I think we play really good as a team. We were all communicating really well and everything was flowing together,“ Hartman said when asked about the team’s performance last night. “It felt good to beat City [High] and it was fun having our student section there supporting and cheering for us.”
Head co-coach Allie Kelly said: ”The team played well with lots of energy. They did a really good job of maintaining energy levels throughout the entire game.”
