Since the start of time, cupcakes have been the birthday party treat of choice. With their delectable sweetness and tiny size they make the perfect dessert for children of all ages. But in my family at least, we often quarrel about the best flavor frosting combo. On today’s issue of Rosie’s Reviews, we will be deciding what the best combination is.

Let’s start out with the base: Vanilla VS Chocolate

Vanilla: Not much varies with vanilla. It’s reliable, sweet, and goes with almost anything. It’s what I like to call “Mid”. Nobody tends to crave a vanilla cupcake though. The creativity is low, but the reliability is amazing.

Chocolate: Chocolate is by far the less reliable of the two. Is it dark chocolate? Milk chocolate? Or the vanilla tasting cupcake that looks chocolate but isn’t? I also find that chocolate cake tends to be drier than vanilla cake.

Frosting: In my family at least, frosting is what causes the real conflict. But for the sake of this article, I will only be debating chocolate vs vanilla.

Vanilla: Vanilla is too sweet. I said what I said. There’s nothing to take away from the sweetness. It’s just bland yet too sweet.

Chocolate: Chocolate frosting is better. It doesn’t matter if it’s dark or milk, it just takes away from the sweetness. You need something to balance out the cupcake. And chocolate does just that.

At the end of the day, this is all up to personal taste. If you prefer vanilla frosting, go you. I don’t agree but I still respect it. But at the end of the day, vanilla cake with chocolate frosting takes the cake.
