People We Meet on Vacation

By Emily Henry

Poppy and Alex have been best friends for years, taking vacations together every summer, until one incident ruins everything they’ve spent over 10 years building. Now Poppy and Alex have gone separate ways, living their own lives, working their jobs, until Poppy makes a spur-of-the-moment decision and invites Alex. Will this vacation be able to re-ignite their friendship? Or is it too far gone?

Now this is my first book of 2022. It’s a great vacation read, but not worth it for much else. I enjoyed the plot, with romance and drama sprinkled throughout but there were a few issues with it. I didn’t like how it switched back and forth between the present day and years ago. I get having little flashbacks, but when it’s every other chapter? No thanks. The ending wasn’t that great. Like with most beach read books, it felt like the strings were tied loosely to get the ending over with. I’m just saying, if you’re going to make a 350 page book, then you can spare a few more pages on the conclusion. This book was a cute read, but lacked sustenance and character development. For those reasons, I give this book a 2.5/5.
